Divya Agarwal shares ‘I broke up with Varun because of my complex emotions’; reveals she made him meet fiancé Apurva Padgaonkar

Divya Agarwal and Varun Sood’s relationship has been out in the open and when they announced their break-up, it shocked fans. They had severe mud-slinging on social media but what caused the break-up was not known until now. In Amrita Rao and RJ Anmol’s podcast, Divya and her fiancé Apurva Padgaonkar gave an insight into their longtime bond, relationship and what led to Divya’s break up with Varun.

Apurva has known Divya when she wasn’t even in the glamour industry. He said, “She had just won Miss Navi Mumbai and one of my friends was hosting an after-party at my place. My first impression was that she was a very confident-looking girl. That’s how we started talking. We have seen a lot of ups and downs.”

Divya said, “My pageant organizers introduced me to him. He looked very strict in appearance. But the moment I said ‘hi’, his response was very warm and bubbly. He hosted my friends at the party so well. Then we came back and I followed him on Facebook and we exchanged numbers. Our second meeting was our first date.”

Divya shared, “I looked at him and said, ‘I want to get married to you’.” To this Apurva replied, ‘I didn’t have marriage on my mind at all’. Divya continued, “And he was like, ‘Are you crazy?’ I have said this, he is the exact replica of my father. Their height, personality, habits and everything matched. Apurva adds, “I never wanted to get married. I still am against the idea of marriage but I will marry her. I want to spend my life with her.”

Divya said, “We have always been in each other’s moments. We were not madly in love. It was just a relationship jo aage badha nahi. It was just left loose. Then one day I messaged him, ‘Hanging on to you is a problem because I am not able to move forward in my life.’” Apurva added, “People think it was a break up but it was a ‘pause’ moment for us. Back then she wanted to get married and I didn’t want to. Her intention was to get married so she wouldn’t see any flaws of mine. And I am a very difficult person to live with.”

Apurva shared his reaction when Divya informed him about her boyfriend Priyank Sharma after Splitsvilla, “The first feeling was it won’t stay. I may not be there, but I knew this won’t last long. We would meet occasionally and I would ask her, ‘How’s baby-sitting going?’” Divya added, “He knew my core no matter how many layers I have. I have always been the man in a relationship. And in my lowest phase, I kept wondering who would be with me.”

What I went through, whoever would have been with me would have lost it. Everything was public, the relationship and the breakup. And when he came, the situation became worse. During the relationship, everything was all happy on social media, but inside I was not happy. On the other hand, with Apurva I hardly put any pictures with him but I am very happy. We have never argued. Even his family never questioned or judged me. They would always support me saying, ‘Don’t pay attention to the media, you two stay together’. Apurva knows my heart so well.

I was very low after my father passed. At my lowest phase, I found nobody around me. That’s when I thought there is something wrong in this relationship. Then I met Apurva at a common friend’s wedding last year on February 14. We were sitting and just said, ‘We were so stupid. We could have been in that place’. I told him that I was in a relationship. And honestly, after that day, I was in two minds. He told me to meet his dogs. I met them, I met his parents and then I don’t know how, I saw his closet in his bedroom and just thought, ‘Where is my space here?’ I didn’t even share this thought with him. I was hyper and feeling guilty because I had a boyfriend (Varun Sood).

With Varun, I felt all over the place. With Apurva, I would feel calm and mature. I made Varun meet Apurva. I told him clearly that I had a problem. I had a confusion. Whatever has happened is very wrong and it has happened because of me. I need to put a stop somewhere. And that’s why it was an abrupt break-up. I just got the car to a screeching halt. This thought would always come to my mind that if I was to get married to my now ex (Varun) would I want to invite Apurva and if I invite him, would I be ok seeing him on that side. Apurva has been the most important person in my life. I had so many complex emotions in my head.

I was feeling guilty that I broke his (Varun) heart and Apurva planned a trip to Goa for me. We had never travelled overnight before together. He told me, ‘You did good to that guy because later it would have been a bigger mess’. He took me to Goa and I wasn’t aware, he took me to his Kuldevi temple and told me, ‘Don’t ask for anything. Just sit in silence’. Again, he reminded me of my father because he would take me to all the spiritual places. Apurva adds, “Again she came back to her ‘marriage’ phase.”
