Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah discusses scrapping of NEP 2020 with state universities today

Bengaluru News Live Updates (August 21): Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has convene a meeting with academicians and vice-chancellors of state universities today at 11 am to discuss the scrapping of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and formulating a committee to frame the guidelines for a State Education Policy. Last week, he announced that the state government will scrap NEP in higher education institutions in the coming academic year.

Meanwhile, the state government also plans to petition the Supreme Court in connection with the Cauvery Water Management Authority’s (CWMA) decision of releasing Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu, deputy CM D K Shivakumar told mediapersons. The government will convene an all-party meeting on Wednesday to discuss Cauvery, Mahadayi and Krishna water sharing disputes, Shivakumar, who also handles the Major Irrigation portfolio, said on Sunday.

In other news, the Karnataka BJP unit has decided to hold a massive protest in the city on Wednesday (August 23) against the “rampant corruption” of the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government, and the lack of development work under this administration, veteran party leader and former Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa said on Friday as per PTI.
