The Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday engaged in a fresh war of words. The topic this time was the popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and the parameter to decide this was the social media engagement of the accounts of the two leaders.
The Congress shared screenshots showing viewership on Sansad TV’s YouTube channel, claiming that Rahul Gandhi’s speech in Parliament drew more viewers than PM Modi’s.
The Congress also released comparative data regarding the tweets of Rahul Gandhi and PM Modi. As per party’s social media team, Rahul Gandhi’s last 30 tweets got 48.13 million impressions, while PM Modi’s last 30 tweets got 21.59 million impressions.
The Congress claimed that the data was collected and compared today.
Congress’s claims received a quick response from the BJP, with the saffron party sharing data that showed PM Modi as de-facto winner in comparison of engagements on social media platforms.
The BJP said PM Modi’s account on X (formerly known as Twitter) received approximately 79.9 lakh engagements in the past one month, while Rahul Gandhi’s account received approximately 23.43 lakh engagements.
On Facebook, PM Modi’s account received approximately 57.89 lakh engagements in the past one month while Rahul Gandhi’s account had approximately 28.38 lakh engagements, BJP said.
A comparison of this year’s data on Facebook account engagement again put PM Modi ahead in the popularity race. According to the BJP, PM Modi’s Facebook account received approximately 3.25 crore engagements this year, while Rahul Gandhi’s account received approximately 1.88 crore engagements.
The BJP also shared viewership gained by the YouTube channels of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
PM Modi’s channel gained approximately 25.46 crore views in the past one month while Rahul Gandhi’s channel gained approximately 4.82 crore views, the BJP said.
In this year so far, PM Modi’s YouTube channel gained approximately 75.79 crore views while Rahul Gandhi’s account gained approximately 25.38 Crore views, the BJP said.
