Notably, the no-confidence motion will not pose any threat to the Modi government as the numbers are heavily stacked in its favour.

Over the last two days, the Lok Sabha witnessed some acrimonious exchanges between leaders of the Opposition INDIA bloc and the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA). On Wednesday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on PM Modi and the ruling BJP government, accusing it of setting violence-torn Manipur and the country on fire. Late at night, his remarks relating to Bharat Mata in Manipur were expunged from House records on the orders of the Chair — a decision that the Congress called “gross injustice”, accusing the government of “denigrating” Parliament.
